What I Planned To Build
Initially, I wanted to build a
ribbon microphone from scratch. Because of time constraints and the absurd shipping time on the transformer that was needed for the project, I decided to do something else for this project. I do however plan to build the microphone over January term.
How My Project Changed
What I chose instead of a ribbon mic was a "Sweet Guitar Amplifier" that I found the plans for on Instructables.com (the actual link is here). The original design was built inside of a gum container, and I decided that I wanted to build mine inside of an old-school metal lunch box. I thought that this would make it sound a little bit cooler, and I really liked how it looked. What I Built
My final project was pretty much exactly what I planned to build after my project idea changed: a guitar amp inside of a metal lunch box. There was a lot of troubleshooting with this project. It worked fine the first time I set it all up with a breadboard, and then again once I soldered it all together. When I put it inside of the lunchbox, however, it didn't work anymore. I took it back out and checked all of the connections and re-soldered a lot of things to make sure that they were connected properly. In the end, I got the headphone jack part of it working fine, but the speaker still won't work. I tried two different speakers with it and it still wouldn't work. I plan on trying more and more speakers and going over that part of the circuit again to hopefully figure out what's preventing it from working properly.
